SPED TEACHER, case manager & Grade level lead

Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.” – Malcom X

Education has always been a passion of mine. It could be due to my grandmother often emphasizing the importance of education. I excelled as a student and enjoyed everything about school through adulthood. Realizing that there are underrepresented children who don’t have the same educational benefits I enjoyed is heart-wrenching. I commit to do something about it. After beginning a career in Engineering, I shifted over to STEM teaching. I believe it is the best career decision I ever made. Having the opportunity to help scholars discover their true potential and most of all realize that they can learn is exhilarating.

With almost 20 years of teaching and tutoring middle school and high school STEM students, I want to make an even greater impact teaching or leading a STEM program and mentoring teachers. I am excited to share that I have a proven track record of increasing student achievement in urban schools as evidenced by standardized test scores. Allow me to share a few selected accomplishments:

  • Student Achievement: Met/Exceeded projected yearly growth for 73% of scholars within 5 months.

  • Achieved a “Distinguished” rating in performance metrics aligned with Danielson’s Framework for Teaching.

  • Blended Classroom Experience: Taught 60 high school math students with learning disabilities.

  • Student Achievement: Exceeded district and school wide testing averages for students by up to 47%.

  • Performance Recognition: “Distinguished” in instructional design, record management, student engagement, classroom management, and communication.

  • Resource Management: Developed a CRM for student tracking and parent engagement.

  • Leadership: Facilitated the transition and launch of a computer science curriculum for 120 8th grade students mid-school year and prepared program administration guidelines for instructors.

  • Leadership: As Middle School Principal (Summer School Program), championed the first annual National Summer School Initiative (NSSI) partnership to mitigate summer learning loss.

I look forward to the next phase of my career in making a broader impact helping underserved scholars discover the wonders of education. I welcome connecting with those who are also passionate about educating our future leaders to network and share ideas.
